First Baptist is an unaffiliated Baptist church that was founded in 1912.  It was originally one of the pioneer western churches associated with the American Baptist denomination.  Over time the values of the church and the values of the denomination grew further apart.  In the year 2000, the church voted to launch out on its own.

Paul Bio Cropped
Hi.  My name is Paul Sheley and I have been senior pastor here at First Baptist since 2010.  I grew up in Illinois and came to saving faith in Christ during my college years after a very rebellious teenage life.  My wife Joyce and I started our ministry together as newlywed missionaries to Borneo, Indonesia.  I have served over the years both as a senior pastor as well as serving as a minister to numerous churches going through crisis. I am a graduate of Western Seminary in Portland.  Joyce and I have four adult children (two married) and 2 grandchildren.
There are few things I enjoy more than sitting down with someone who has spiritual questions.  Feel free to give me a call at (509)422-3784.

Dan Shiflett -- (Dan leads a family construction business).

Hello, my name is Alex Love. I have been attending First Baptist Church since 1998 with my family and have grown to love the people of this church and seen the love of Christ within them and through them. I am very excited to be taking over the responsibilities as Youth Leader here and I have a long personal history with the youth group of this church considering that I was once a member myself. I attended Omak Middle School and High School and enjoyed doing drama, band, and sports. I recently graduated from George Fox University with a Biology degree and am now living back home in Omak.
I am so excited to have the opportunity to work with the young people in our community and to offer opportunities for both high school and middle school students to join together each week for some fun activities, fellowship, and time to focus on God and learn more about Him. If you have any questions or are interested at all in attending youth group at First Baptist or know someone who might be interested, please don’t hesitate to contact me! I can be reached by email at or by phone at (509) 322-2438.
Also, please join our Facebook group to keep up on upcoming events
